Bikepacking has evolved, and in response to the wishes of its enthusiasts, a new Kona model has been born: the Unity. It could be considered the ultimate all-rounder, but it would be unfair to pigeonhole it into just one category. It is a mountain bike. It is a gravel bike. It is a bikepacking workhorse and a durable companion, designed to take you further, deeper and into tougher conditions than most other bikes.
We wanted big tyres. And mixed-wheel set-ups! Trendy? Perhaps. But we chose the MX solution because it places the centre of gravity exactly where it’s needed, makes the rear wheel sturdier, and leaves more room for both panniers and saddle bags. We wanted greater load-carrying capacity, but without compromising on ride comfort. That’s why the geometry was optimised specifically for carrying loads, fine-tuning the fork offset and handling so that the bike remains stable and predictable even when fully loaded. The integrated front rack and enlarged head tube, which accommodates a maximum-sized frame bag, make the Unity the ideal companion even for the most demanding trips.
